Understanding the Context
So, not many sea kayaks come up for sale round here, but right now there’s a P&H Capella 160 in the kevlar composite layup. Built in 2007 and looks to be in great condition. I currently only have 1 kayak (I know, WTF 🙂 ), which is my slightly beaten up CD Prana. They’re asking $750.

I’m wondering if this would be an interesting second boat, or would it be too similar to my Prana (and ... Can anyone speak to the difference in the P&H Capella 161 and 163 other than the obvious load capacities, length, and width? I have the 160RM but that is going to the wife and I am looking to upgrade. I am leaning to the 161 as it appears on paper to be closer to what I have than the 163. I am 5’10” 180 but all torso and arm just a 30’inseam.

Thoughts? Am I splitting hairs here? I ... I have a Capella 161 made in 2006 listed on P.com classified section. It is a composite boat, just at 16 feet one inch long with 3 hatches. I am happy to share addition pictures and provide measurements if they can assist your efforts to ID the version you have an opportunity to purchase.
P&H has a well earned reputation for very good build ... Capella 173 I wouldn’t buy without trying…been there done that…looking for direct feedback from users. I sat in a 173 in a showroom a couple of years ago…the memory sticks since it was a comfortable fit. I agree that most all boat reviews are positive…some seem genuine, some are dazzled by their pretty purchase.
